Dr. Philip Zimbardo is an American social-psychologist and a professor emeritus at Stanford University. Widely known for his controversial 1971 Stanford Prison Study.  This landmark study investigated the psychological effects of perceived power between prison inmates and prison guards. He has authored numerous books including The Lucifer Effect, The Time Paradox, The Time Cure, as well as various introductory psychology textbooks for college students. Today he is founder and director of the Heroic Imagination Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting heroism in everyday life, especially with the youth.
